Summary

Wirtek has worked with Spectralink, a leading provider of enterprise mobility solutions, since 2009, providing quality assurance services for their DECT handsets and servers. The partnership started with three engineers doing QA and expanded to two dedicated teams in charge of equipment testing and DECT server embedded development. Spectralink selected Wirtek as their quality assurance partner because of our technical expertise and ability to ensure stable and predictable service delivery.

Challenge

In 2009 Spectralink needed to quickly scale their team of engineers with a rare technical skillset. They sought a specialised partner who could integrate seamlessly with their existing team. Wirtek needed to ramp up quickly and supply engineers with strong backgrounds in networking protocols, security, DECT and Wi-Fi IP telephony — many CCNA or ISTQB certified.

Solution

Wirtek assembled an initial team of three network engineers for QA, working closely with Spectralink counterparts in the US and Denmark while being managed from Cluj, Romania. Engineers needed advanced understanding of networking and telecommunication to test not only product functions but also network functionalities and security. The QA team had full ownership over deliverables from the start, handling testing cycles end to end and proactively solving issues. This transparency and timely delivery allowed Spectralink to plan product launches effectively. The trust earned by Wirtek’s team reassured Spectralink that we could maintain the same level of quality and consistency.

Results

Our expertise in DECT technology and history of success led Spectralink to extend the partnership. In 2018 a second team was created for embedded software development, following Agile methodology and responsible for finding the best approach and ensuring top quality. With the client’s focus on Automation and Wi-Fi products, embedded collaboration paused; currently we provide manual and automation testing teams. We are proud of building a stable QA team that has never missed a deadline and of attracting and retaining top engineers who deliver high-quality work and provide advice when needed.
